Chronology of cameras Asaflex

The brand Asaflex was registered on March 15, 1977, and renewed in February 1987, by the Compagnie de Diffusion Internationale et Commerciale (S.A). It was re-registered in February 1988, again for photographic equipment.
Subsequently, the "Gorthex Group" (located at 140 rue de la Pompe, 75016 Paris) simultaneously filed for the trademarks Asaflex and Gorthex on January 23, 1997.

This model is basic—a fixed-focus compact camera made of plastic. Film handling is manual. Contrary to what the model name might imply, you need to indicate the film sensitivity by sliding a small cursor located under the flash. The options are limited to 100/200 or 400/1000 ISO. The third position activates the flash. The position of this cursor modifies the aperture. The use of the letters "DX" in the name is therefore misleading, as there is no DX code decoding on the film cartridges.

This model is part of a series of cameras whose names usually start with AS, likely an abbreviation for Asaflex. However, these cameras may not all have the same manufacturer. Nevertheless, similarities can be observed between AS-105, AS-106 , and DX 35, where the button positions and the shape of the end opposite the flash are similar.

The essential difference of this model compared to others in the series is that a sliding cover protects the lens and serves as a switch.
